| Swimming Pool The Olympic size swimming pool is in the Taft Village Area of the park. Lifeguards are on duty, and a bath house is available. 2 diving boards are situated on the deep end of the pool, and a kiddie pool is available for the little ones. Plenty of lounge chairs and a the poolside snack bar make this a great place to relax. The pool is open seasonally, from Memorial Day to Labor day. Cascades The swimming hole below the Cane Creek Cascades is a great place to cool off on a hot day. A nice plunge pool is deep enough for swimming, and a natural "slide" comes off of part of the lower cascades, and you can sit under small waterfalls as the water flows over you. Caution is of the utmost here.... there are no lifeguards on duty, the water is moving, and many rocks are both above and below the surface. The Cascades can be accessed by a short trail from the Nature Center. George hole swimming Area Another swimming area is located just north of the campgrounds. Picnic tables, grills, a picnic pavillion, a swinging bridge, and a nice grassy area make this area very inviting. The creek is dammed to create the pool for swimming. There is a concrete wall and sidewalk along the waters edge to provide access to the water. While some adventurous types will jump off of the cliffs into the water, this is not recommended, and the depth of the water varies and no lifeguards are on duty. Jumping off of the swinging bridge is also prohibited. Cane Creek Falls Plunge Pool This is one of our favorite places to swim at the park, but it is the least accessible. To get to the deep plunge pool below the Cane Creek Falls, you must hike the Cable Trail, which is accessed by the Nature Center. While this trail is short, it is very steep and rocky. A cable runs the length of the trail to provide a measure of support for hikers. This area is isolated, so use extreme caution when hiking and swimming in this area. |
