| Betty Dunn Nature Center |
| The nature Center is the perfect place to begin exploring Fall Creek Falls, and lies at the intersection of many of the park's attractions. Named for the former First Lady of Tennessee, the Betty Dunn Nature Center has an interpretive center, a movie about Fall Creek Falls and it's history (with a really cool roof in the theatre), and a gift shop. The interpretive center and theatre focus on the area's history, geology, plants, ecology and wildlife. One of our favorite things is the bee hive just outside of the window next to the front desk. The gift shop is run by the Friends of Fall Creek Falls, a great organization dedicated to the preservation of Fall Creek Falls and its environs. The friendly staff has a wealth of information about the park. Many books are available, focusing on the local area and conservation. T-Shirts, caps, pictures, and walking sticks are also available. Proceeds from the gift shop go to the Friends of Fall Creek Falls. The Friends of Fall Creek Falls also has a donation box located as you approach the Fall Creek Falls Overlook. The Cascades, Cane Creek Falls, Campground C, the Paw Paw Trail, the Gorge Trail, and the Woodland Trail are all readily accessible from the Nature Center. Restrooms, a playground, picnic tables, a picnic shelter, water fountains and Soda machines are all available in the Nature Center area. |
